Monty's Works on Bibb Lettuce!

Commercial Hydroponically Grown Bibb Lettuce

On August 28th two trays of Bibb lettuce was seeded.  Tray "A" seeds were treated with Monty's 4-15-12 formula (8 ounces per 100 gallons of water).  Tray "B" was treated with a standard 20-10-20 water soluble fertilizer.

On September 5th the plugs were transplanted into larger containers. The plugs from tray "A" were foliar sprayed with Monty's 8-16-8 formula (8 ounces per 100 gallons of water) once a week for for three weeks.  The 20-10-20 was cut back by 75 percent in the water and Monty’s was applied to the foliage. The plugs from tray "B" were root fed in the water bath daily, a water soluble 20-10-20 formula.  

The Bibb lettuce using the Monty's program developed in 28 days compared to 35 days for the Bibb lettuce grown with the 20-10-20 fertilizer. . Monty's program results in a better head of lettuce and quicker production timing for commercial operations.   Monty's should be considered a supplement in the fertilizer program with large savings on cutting back on salt based fertilizers.
