Using Monty's Joy Juice with hard,
high pH water
The use of
Magnesium Sulfate to lower pH level
Q: I have
several growers in Mid-Missouri where water is very hard and
they add to their water to lower pH level, I think one said they
added Magnesium to lower pH?, could that be right?-the discussion
was way over my head. Anyway, IF a grower is currently adding
something to lower pH will they still need to add it when using
Monty's? Let me know, I need to get back with them on this so
they can begin their testing of Monty's.
A: I have
just returned from the greenhouse capital of North America in
Leamington Ontario. Most greenhouses were on a multi tank
system. The grower added each element as needed. Some growers
were receptive to trying a mixed solution. However, the training
in this area has most believing that you cannot be successful
with a pre-mixed solution fertilizer. I am looking forward to
obtaining the results from them in about three weeks. I did find
that all of the water in this area was extremely hard. Magnesium
sulfate was being used as well as some other magnesium elements
to lower the pH level. The question was asked would they need to
continue using these elements to lower the pH level. The answer
is yes because our solution is pH balanced. Plus magnesium is
the only element that we do not have in our product. A yellowing
of leaves will occur if magnesium becomes insufficient. Also, if
the pH level is not maintained properly the plants will not take
nutrients up through the roots. I hope this is this statement is
not confusing and will become helpful when talking with growers.
